Matti Malkamäki, the CEO of Aurelia Turbines, was interviewed by the leading Finnish business newspaper Kauppalehti.
Malkamäki is part of the steering group of Finland’s new company-driven hydrogen cluster.
Malkamäki sees great opportunities in hydrogen technology in Finland, but their implementation requires political will and public funding for early-stage development work.
Germany, for example, has decided to invest nine billion euros in the hydrogen sector.
“The race is now underway and there are opportunities. The right solutions should be made as soon as possible. The question is whether hydrogen technology can be supported in such a way that we can develop the technology ourselves, and not so that someone else will come here to sell it to us”, Malkamäki says in the interview.
