SOLAR MATERIALS, Magdeburg

Anyone decommissioning, revamping, or repowering a solar park faces not only the challenge of disposing of solar modules properly, but first and foremost, dismantling them. SOLAR MATERIALS and GME clean power are now bundling these services into a joint offering for €0.00. Under this partnership, GME will handle the nationwide dismantling of crystalline solar modules from mounting structures across Germany. The dismantled modules will subsequently be recycled by SOLAR MATERIALS, returning up to 99 percent of the materials they contain back into the economic cycle. For operators and asset owners, this reduces not only organizational effort, but also the overall cost structure of a project.

Less Effort on the Way to a Higher-Performing Solar Park

Increasing module efficiency makes revamping and repowering economically attractive for many existing plants. However, before new modules can be installed, existing ones must be professionally dismantled. Coordinating multiple service providers increases complexity, interface management, and costs.

The joint offering from SOLAR MATERIALS and GME clean power reduces this complexity and cuts costs. Operators receive decommissioning and recycling from a single source. Instead of coordinating multiple contractors, both services seamlessly integrate with one another.

“Revamping & repowering projects must be one thing above all: economically viable and predictable. Together with GME clean power, we are creating a simple way to efficiently combine dismantling and recycling,” explains Jan-Philipp Mai, Co-Founder & CEO of SOLAR MATERIALS.

Valuable Materials Remain in the Loop

After dismantling, a second life begins for the modules. SOLAR MATERIALS extracts 99 percent of the materials contained within them, after which the raw materials flow back into industrial applications. For operators, this means the removed modules do not become a waste disposal problem, but are instead directed into a new recycling process.

Clear Services, Clear Responsibilities

Roles are clearly defined: GME clean power takes over the dismantling of solar modules from the mounting structure. The mounting structures, foundations, and other structural components are therefore excluded from this specific offer, as their removal is highly project-dependent. SOLAR MATERIALS is responsible for the subsequent intake and material recovery.

“Thanks to the clear division of tasks, we can execute module dismantling efficiently, reliably, and straightforwardly,” says Ronny Hager, Co-Founder & Board Member of GME Clean Power AG.

Five Years of SOLAR MATERIALS

The launch of this joint offering marks a special occasion for SOLAR MATERIALS: the company celebrates its fifth anniversary on June 23, 2026. At the same time, SOLAR MATERIALS is unveiling a new brand identity, reflecting its evolution from a technology startup to an industrial recycling enterprise.

Over the past five years, SOLAR MATERIALS has developed and continuously scaled processes for recovering valuable raw materials from solar modules. Through its cooperation with GME clean power, the service portfolio for solar park operators expands to include another highly practical offering.

Availability

The joint offering from SOLAR MATERIALS and GME clean power is available nationwide across Germany starting June 23, 2026.
